Evidence-based music therapy techniques combined with mindfulness attitudes can be utilized to support clients coping with stress and dysregulation. Grounding techniques are far from one-size-fits-all, and leveraging the immersive qualities of music can support clients for whom more conventional mindfulness-based relaxation strategies may seem daunting at first. This interactive presentation will demonstrate several music therapy strategies that can be adapted to promote grounding in counseling practice. Gain insight into the way musical elements like tempo and volume can significantly influence physical responses like heart rate and respiratory rate.
