Description:

This presentation is designed to equip counselors with the tools, knowledge, and strategies needed to provide affirming, competent, and transformative care to transgender and gender-expansive (TGE) clients. Participants will explore the unique challenges faced by TGE individuals, including minority stress, stigma, and systemic barriers, and learn how to counter these with evidence-based, gender-affirming practices. The session will emphasize creating safe therapeutic spaces where clients feel validated in their identities and empowered to navigate their personal journeys. Key topics will include understanding the spectrum of gender identity and expression, addressing internalized transphobia and dysphoria, and supporting clients through social and/or medical transitions.
