Authors:
Ye Luo, PhD; Bonnie L. Stice, MA; and A.Stephen Lenz, PhD
Description:
With the exponential development of mental health apps (MHAs) and depression being a prevalent mental health condition affecting millions globally, the need to evaluate the effectiveness of MHAs in alleviating depression symptoms is apparent (Luo et al., 2024). To this end, Luo et al. completed a meta-analysis of MHAs in alleviating depression symptoms that may provide counselors, clients, and other stakeholders with an estimate of potential costs and benefits. Counselors who register for this CE will learn about the effectiveness of MHAs in treating depression and walk away with comprehending the implications of incorporating MHAs into their counseling practice.

Learning Objectives:

  • Understand the study and participant characteristics associated with the effects of MHA use treatment.
  • Know the impact of the partner's perceptions of quality time, social support, and feelings of self-stigma of seeking help at the baseline on their partners' corresponding responses at 1-month follow-up.
  • Comprehend implications of incorporating MHAs into counseling practice.
