This webinar will provide a foundational understanding of the unique historical and contemporary traumas Black men face, including the psychological impact of systemic racism, poverty, and cultural stigmatization. Participants will explore the root causes of mental health disparities in Black men and how these contribute to issues like chronic stress, anxiety, and mistrust of mental health services. This is Part One of a three-part series. Part Two will be available via live webinar on Friday, February 14, with recording to follow. Part Three will be held live, in-person on Monday, March 27 at the ACA Annual Conference in Orlando. Pre-registration is required.

Learning Objectives:

  • Participants will identify key historical and current traumas affecting the mental health of Black men.
  • Participants will analyze how systemic racism, economic disparities, and cultural factors contribute to mental health challenges for Black men.
  • Participants will evaluate common barriers Black men face when seeking mental health care.
