This presentation will invite participants to reflect on their current ethical practices as well as share insights into the presenter’s extensive history of teaching ethics courses to Master’s level students. Themes, changes, and challenges related to the evolution of professional counseling ethics will be shared. Specifically, the themes of inclusivity, bias-reduction, and ideological polarization will be discussed. Participants will be invited to reflect their ethical journeys and create a plan for continued growth.

Learning Objectives:

  • Demonstrate an understanding of the historical and current ethical challenges facing the counseling field and how they are impacting their current practice.
  • Analyze their relationship to the themes presented and identify strengths and growth areas related to them.
  • Create an action plan for addressing ethical responsibilities related to the challenges and themes discussed.
