Description: Counselors who register for this Professional Development will have access to the first study of its kind to explore the effectiveness of neurofeedback (NFB) in the treatment of substance use disorders (SUDs). NFB, explained Russo et al. (2023), has been an often-overlooked treatment intervention that has promising implications in the reduction of symptoms of alcohol, opioid, and methamphetamine use disorders. Moreover, current modalities of addressing SUDs are not always efficacious, highlighting the need to consider alternative modalities of SUD treatment (Russo et al., 2023). To that end, the authors of this study present meta-analysis to assess the efficacy of neurofeedback (NFB) as a treatment for SUD.
