Title: Reporting to Third Parties: Risk Recommendations
Presenters: Aprille Woodson, PhD and Ann M. Ordway, PhD
Description: This content is sponsored by the Healthcare Providers Service Organization (HPSO). HPSO states that in the 2019 claim report, issues related to reporting to third parties represented 7.3% of license protection cases involving counselors. And while the majority (71.7%) of those cases closed without action taken by the state board of counseling, 28.3% resulted in disciplinary action against the insured counselor (CAN & HPSO, 2019). Counselors who register for this CE will learn to identify the exceptions to maintaining client confidentiality and understand what they need to know to protect themselves when reporting to third parties. Counselors will also learn how to report to third parties while prioritizing their client’s welfare.
