Risk Management: Identifying Your Client

Risk Management: Identifying Your Client
Danielle Irving, EdS and Jennifer Flynn, CPHRM
It can be challenging for counselors to identify who the client is, especially when counseling couples and families. In their 2019 claim report, HPSO stated that failure to clearly define the identified “client” within a couple or group demonstrated an average expense of $5,440. The same report stated that failure to clarify the nature of the relationships the counselor will have with each involved person represented an average expense of $8853. This educational content, sponsored by HPSO, provides counselors with risk management practices to identify their clients.
